Maria
In honour of my paternal grandmother and maternal great-grandmother, both named Maria. These earrings reflect them both in different personal ways. The two ancestors I resemble most.

Fortuna Verdeş
Verdeş was my grandmother's maiden name. I make these earrings with her divination work in mind, remembering her for the wise and young spirit she had. She also loved flowers and plants, especially roses. I remember her everytime I smell rose scented soap.

Zână
'Zână' means 'Fairy' in Romanian. A very common mythical figure among many Romanian and Romani folk tales are fairies.

Dumbrava Roșie
Dumbrava Roşie is the name of the countryside commune where many generations of my maternal family line has lived, my grandmother and aunt still living there to this day. It is where I spent every summer as a child, and will forever be my favourite place on this earth. This land holds many of my ancestral roots, dating back to my great-grandparents.
